The deadline for SDGs is all but 13 years from now. As things stand, 660 million people still don not have water supply. 80% of them are located in rural areas.
Covering this yawning gap in good time will require a variety of strategies and solutions. One of them could be promoting family-based water supply systems. Manual pumps owned by families are less expensive, better maintained, and provide water closer to homes. Families usually share such pumps with their neighbours, so a network of family-level systems in effect cater to entire communities.
